A modern Social, Emotional and Mental Health curriculum for Key Stage 1-4 for schools in Leeds.
The MindMate Lessons teaching resource, an emotional literacy curriculum designed to support class-based discussions and learning around mental health and wellbeing. The lessons are written by a range of teachers and mental health professionals and are designed to fit into your Personal, Social, Health and Economic education (PSHE) curriculum, in a modern, engaging and evidence-based manner, as part of the MindMate Champions whole school approach.
When designing the curriculum, we prioritised key emotionally skills; self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills, as well as ensuring the format was easy to deliver and tailor to your classes. All lessons include a powerpoint, lesson plan and any resources needed. These can easily be download from the website.
There are 6 lessons per year group per year using the themes;
Feeling Good and Being Me
Friends and Family
Life Changes
Strong Emotions
Being the Same Being Differet
Solving Problems
The lessons are reviewed every summer, to ensure they are still up to date, relevant and that all links and resources work. Where any changes are made, schools and setting are informed in the autumn term.
These lessons have been updated so they reflect the updated RHSE 2025 statutory guidance.
