The MindMate Champions Programme is designed to promote, strengthen and celebrate evidence‑based best practice in Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) provision within universal settings. Schools can be assured that the programme supports delivery of their SEMH local offer, meets Ofsted expectations, and aligns with national guidance and best practice in this area.

It focuses on building universal SEMH skills, including emotional literacy, resilience and empathy, and aims to support the wellbeing of all children and young people in schools and settings.

The MindMate Champions Programme is delivered by the Health and Wellbeing Service and can be accessed through either a Service Level Agreement (SLA) or a range of Pay As You Go (PAYG) options.

MindMate Friendly Programme

The MindMate Friendly Programme is the first stage of the framework. All schools in Leeds have access to the SEMH strand of the Healthy Schools School Health Check.

The SEMH section includes ten strands, each with criteria designed to help settings raise attainment and achievement by strengthening pupils’ social, emotional and mental health, alongside their overall wellbeing.

Schools use the SEMH section of the School Health Check to self-evaluate and develop action plans, enabling them to assess, measure and improve their SEMH provision. Once all ten strands have been graded as Good or Outstanding, the SEMH strand can be submitted online.

Schools with a service level agreement can then choose to have an external validation visit to confirm their MindMate Friendly status. Schools outside Leeds that would like to become MindMate Friendly can purchase access to the SEMH strand of the School Health Check.
