The refreshed Leeds School Health Check, launched on 5th November 2025, offers a more streamlined and supportive experience for schools auditing their health and wellbeing provision. This updated version reflects national priorities and local expertise, making it easier and more meaningful to complete.

- Simplified format – quicker and easier to complete.
- Aligned with 2025 Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) statutory guidance and national standards.
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) section now mirrors the MindMate Support Team audit – no duplication.
- Trauma-informed principles embedded throughout.
- Co-developed with Leeds Educational Psychology and school staff.
- Available to all Leeds settings – primary, secondary, post-16, through schools, and SILCs.

This free, virtual bitesize session introduces the newly refreshed 2025 School Health Check, a whole-school audit tool designed to support health and wellbeing across schools. Whether you're new to the Healthy Schools website or a returning user, this session will walk you through the key updates in both content and functionality.
You’ll gain a clear understanding of how the tool aligns with the 2025 RSHE statutory guidance, integrates trauma-informed principles, and supports a joined-up approach with the MindMate Support Team audit. The session will also explore the four updated themes:
- Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education – fully aligned with 2025 RSHE guidance.
- School Food (new for 2025) – focuses on food provision and policy.
- Healthy Lifestyles (new for 2025) – combines physical activity, healthy eating curriculum, and wider health education.
- Social and Emotional Mental Health (SEMH) – enhanced and aligned with MindMate tools, free for all Leeds settings.
Outcome
By the end of this one-hour session, participants will:
- Understand the purpose and benefits of the refreshed School Health Check.
- Be familiar with the new structure, themes, and alignment with national guidance.
- Know how to access the tool and transition to the 2025 version.
- Be aware of the support available from the Health and Wellbeing Service.
- Have the opportunity to ask questions and clarify next steps for their setting.

This is a free virtual session available to all Leeds schools registered on the Healthy Schools website.
Cancellation Fee:
If you have booked a place and are unable to attend or need to cancel your place, please cancel via your Leeds for Learning account at least 48 hours in advance of the event so that we can release your place to delegates on the waiting list. The event is free but we reserve the right to impose a charge of £25 where delegates do not attend and have not informed us of their cancellation.
