HENRY Core Training

This course will help you to gain the knowledge, skills and confidence needed to provide effective support to parents and carers, enabling them to give their children a healthy and happy childhood.

The HENRY programme focuses on building parental confidence and strength, exploring key themes such as; emotional well-being, whole family lifestyle habits, mealtimes, TV, sleep, food, parenting and physical activity. Attending the Core Training will help you to understand how to embed the key messages and approaches from HENRY into your current practice working with families.

This is a two-day training course and there is no cost to attend this course. However, you may be asked how you will use the training in your role.

On completion of this course, you will have the option to undertake Group Facilitation Training and progress to deliver HENRY parent programmes.

HENRY Group Facilitation Training

This training is designed for practitioners who aim to deliver the HENRY 5-12 parent programme, either in group settings or one-on-one. You need to complete the HENRY Core Training before you can participate in this course.

As a HENRY facilitator, you will co-deliver HENRY 5-12 parent courses, which consist of eight 2-hour sessions for small groups of parents. These sessions will use the HENRY approach to encourage positive behaviour change and support families in leading healthier and happier lives.

The training is fully funded, with no cost to school staff, although you will be required to commit to delivering a minimum of two parent programmes per year on completion.

In addition to attending this 2-day training course, participants will also be required to attend three practice development sessions in the year (one per term), each lasting approximately 1.5 hours, to enhance and maintain skills and share best practice.
