Host a HENRY Parent Programme in Your School - Free of Charge
Primary, Through, and SILC schools in Leeds can request to host a HENRY parent programme at no cost.
HENRY supports families to lead healthier, happier lives. It’s especially beneficial for families with children at risk of being overweight and can make a real difference to pupils’ wellbeing and engagement in school.
Hosting a HENRY programme can:
- Support your school’s ethos and values
- Enhance your Healthy Schools engagement
- Strengthen relationships with parents and the wider community
What’s Involved?
- Programme Length: 8 weeks
- Session Duration: 2 hours per week
- Group Size: Up to 12 parents + 2 trained facilitators
- Space Requirements: A comfortable room with chairs and refreshments, no screen or tech needed
- Setup Time: 30 minutes before and after each session for setup and tidy-up
Schools are asked to:
- Identify a key staff member to coordinate the programme and lead on parent recruitment (they don’t need to attend sessions but should be available during delivery if needed)
- Provide a suitable space for sessions
- Where possible, welcome parents from the local community, even if their children attend other schools
“What a success the course was with the parents. They gained so much knowledge and fun from it. They have even developed a friendship between them which has prompted them to have a regular meet up in school to continue to support each other and other parents”. (St Peter’s Primary School, 2022)
All facilitators are fully trained and DBS checked.
