Plastic Free Schools - Power to the Pupils

The UK is committed to being a global leader in tackling the issue of plastic pollution as Mr Hinds urged schools across the country to follow the lead of Georgeham Primary School in Devon - the first school in the UK to achieve single use plastic free status.

Plastic Free Schools is a “SYSTEM SHAKING, change making pupil led education programme” designed by charity Surfers Against Sewage (SAS). The ground breaking programme equips and empowers pupils with the tools to create positive, lasting environmental change created to hit key curriculum targets from KS1 to KS3. Five key objectives guide pupils through the plastic free schools process in an easy to understand, purposeful and fun way!

Though registrations for the 2018/2019 academic year have now closed you can still register your school and you’ll be sent a free school information pack in September.

Currently 5 x KS2 & KS3 lesson plans are available along with a plastic free schools assembly presentation and script at https://www.sas.org.uk/plastic-free-schools/
