Leeds is committed to adopting a whole system, whole council, whole family approach to providing support for young carers and their families.

Details

As part of this commitment, Leeds Young Carers Support Service, part of Family Action is delivering practice development sessions available to all education settings across Leeds.

This one hour session is designed to equip practitioners with the knowledge and skills to appropriately identify and support young carers and their families.

Outcome

  • Improved awareness and understanding on the challenges faced by young carers and the impact caring has on a child and/or young person’s education and quality of life.
  • Understand young carers rights and the legislative framework for young carers.
  • Understand how to use professional curiosity and the importance of a “think family” approach to identify and support young carers.
  • A clear understanding of the No Wrong Doors for Young Carers pathway and what Leeds Young Carers Support Service offers to young carers, their families and education settings.

This session is included at no cost for schools in Leeds.

If you have booked a place and are unable to attend or need to cancel your place, please cancel via your Leeds for Learning account at least 48 hours in advance of the event so that we can release your place to delegates on the waiting list. The event is free but we reserve the right to impose a charge of £25 where delegates do not attend and have not informed us of their cancellation.
