Shalina Patel, Head of Teaching and Learning and Teacher of History at Claremont High School Academy, looks at ways you can start decolonising your curriculum and how building in opportunities to raise the racial literacy of staff is key in supporting this process. The session also covers examples of how best to utilise situations beyond the classroom that will allow diversity to be embedded, so that students have a truly intersectional experience. Session is 1 hour 28 mins. A fabulous training tool. Easy to listen to, lots to think about and practical advice and resources (largely secondary examples but really useful for primary too): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0hNSzXhsyms

Being young and LGBT+- issues affecting LGBT children and young people – 06 July

Throughout Pride month, Public Health England Yorkshire and Humber Centre are hosting a series of webinars which will explore the disproportionately poorer health outcomes experienced by Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT+) people across the life course. These webinars will provide an opportunity to showcase best practice and foster new ways of working to address and improve LGBT+ health inequalities throughout the region. These events are open to professionals from across the health, social care and VCSE sectors with a responsibility for addressing LGBT+ health inequalities, including Local Authorities, primary care services, policy makers, commissioners and NHS trusts.
