Voices and Viewpoints:
Perspectives of members of faith communities on aspects of Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE). Leeds Standing Advisory Council on RE has joined with three other SACREs in West Yorkshire to produce some supporting information about perspectives of members of faith communities on aspects of Relationships, Sex and Health Education. Since September 2020 schools have been required to follow statutory guidance on teaching RSHE. SACREs point schools and parents to the national and local guidance provided. However, recognising the links between RSHE and beliefs, SACREs feel this background information will inform, support and enlighten teachers and others concerned with the delivery of RSHE and RE. The aims are to offer a range of viewpoints from people of faith about the specific areas covered in the RSHE curriculum, to support teachers with background information, to reassure parents that faith perspectives are recognised and to signpost appropriate sources of guidance. The document can be accessed here via Leeds for Learning SACRE Resources page. Please contact Alastair Ross if you have any questions or queries (alastair.ross@leeds.gov.uk)
