Mental Health Awareness Training

The Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families has been commissioned by the Department of Health and Social Care to offer a comprehensive free Mental Health Awareness Training (MHAT) to eligible schools. The programme is in its final months, but the Anna Freud Centre are offering one final additional date to Leeds schools to ensure they don’t miss out on this no-cost offer.

This one-day training will be freely available to those schools who:

  • have not yet received Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Training in 2017 – 2018 and
  • are a mainstream secondary school, sixth form college, Pupil Referral Unit or a Free School.

The training, developed in 2019 by clinicians at the Anna Freud Centre, features practical advice, support and resources for teachers to share with colleagues and implement in schools to help their students to develop good mental health practices.

Attendees will also receive a copy of the materials to help them share their knowledge with colleagues covering:

    • What the evidence tells us about mental health difficulties in schools
    • Spotting the early signs of a mental health problem
    • Positive approaches to promoting mental health and wellbeing in the whole school community
