Twilights 1&2: Staff and pupil wellbeing: implementing the ‘Five Ways to Wellbeing’

Interventions which promote social and emotional learning are effective in ‘closing the gap’. The 5 Ways to Wellbeing offer a simple framework for improving staff and/or pupil wellbeing. Emotional wellbeing is positively associated with the ability to learn, be creative and play (PHE 2015). There is strong evidence from survey research that teachers are among those professions with the highest levels of stress and mental health problems (Labour Force Survey).Higher levels of staff well-being can contribute to improvements in teaching and learning (Dewberry & Briner, 2007, Briner &Dewberry, 2007).
This course is an interactive, thought-provoking introduction to the topic.
Delegates must attend both sessions.
On completion of the session participants will:

    • Have a good understanding of the 5 Ways to Wellbeing and how implementing them can contribute to school improvement
    • Be able to support colleagues and pupils to improve their wellbeing
