In June 2019, the government published statutory guidance on Relationship & Sex Education (RSE), Relationships Education (RE) and Health Education (HE). The guidance covers a range of issues to make sure education prepares children/young people for life in the 21st Century. Schools are now being encouraged to begin updating their PSHE provision with RE/RSE & HE to be mandatory in all schools by September 2020.
The Secondary RSE guidance is split into five key themes:
Respectful relationships, including friendships
Intimate and sexual relationships, including sexual health
This page aims to support schools in exploring potential resources for the delivery of Secondary RSE.
Schools/colleges should explore resources in detail before using with pupils/students and should take into account; validity, age appropriateness and suitability.
