Supporting school leaders to meet statutory guidance through a whole school approach.

This training will support you to oversee all food provision and understand key responsibilities such as compliance with the school food standards.

You will also gain knowledge of school food policy, statutory curriculum requirements and responsibilities for free school meals. It will include learning on how to oversee the financial performance of the school in relation to school food budgets, income and expenditure.


This course will help you to ensure that statutory compliances are met through a whole school approach to food. It will also consider and link to recommendations from the National Food Strategy, other recent guidance (including the Levelling Up white paper), local and national data (from the My Health, My School survey).

The recent 'Levelling Up' white paper stated:

'The UK Government will promote accountability and transparency of school food arrangements by encouraging schools to complete a statement on their school websites, which sets out their whole school approach to food. The UK Government’s intention is that this will become mandatory when schools can do this effectively.'

We recommend that delegates attending this course also attend our 'Healthy Eating Friendly' and the school health check workshop taking place in the afternoon following this course. This workshop will help you to complete the Healthy Eating section of the School Health Check and work towards Healthy Eating friendly or Healthy Schools Status - - A £10 discount will be applied on the Healthy Eating Friendly workshop for delegates who are booked on both sessions.
