NEW FOOD Clubs for Leeds

First club will open on 26th February at the Henry Barran Centre, Gipton!

Family Action, a national charity working in Leeds have been successful in a Big Lottery application to deliver FOOD Clubs in 12 venues across Leeds.  The acronym FOOD stands for Food On Our Doorstep. The clubs aims to provide families with good quality food at a low cost, while also reducing food waste. The clubs cost £1 a year for a family to become a member. Members can then access a range of food items, approximately £15 for the cost of £3.50 per week.  The first of the 12 projects will run from the Henry Barran Centre in Gipton, starting on 26th February. All Clubs will be listed on the Leeds Food Provision Maps. FOOD Clubs are seen as an option which helps people build food resilience, both when a low cost intervention is required to offer support in the first instance and for people who may have accessed some emergency food support, but are now able to allocate some budget towards food costs. Leeds City Council has been supporting the scoping for FOOD Clubs across Leeds in response to the demands from food provision and to avoid duplication.
