School meals could be FREE for ALL primary pupils

In September 2014, the coalition government introduced free school meals for all infants (UIFSM), and children who's parents meet other qualifying critieria are also currently entitled to a free schools.

An article publish by LACA revealed that the Labour Party manifesto will contain a pledge to 'end the stigma' surrounding free school meals by ensuring they are available to all primary pupils.

In Leeds we have over 22,500 pupils who are entitled to a Free School Meal but more than 4,600 dont take up the offer. Perhaps a universal school meals offer for all primary pupils will  remove stigma and help to give children the best nutrititional start they can get with a healthy school meal.
