Tackling Plastic Pollution Primary Lesson Plan
Help your pupils understand how their personal choices affect the wider world, and how they can take action on plastic pollution with this free resource pack from Premier League Primary Stars and Sky Ocean Rescue including engaging films featuring Brighton and Hove Albion Football Club and sailor Dee Caffari.
The Tackling Plastic Pollution lesson plan has received the PSHE Association Quality Mark for high-quality PSHE education resources. The resources in this pack teach pupils about the simple changes everyone can make to have a positive impact on the local and global environment, as well as helping to prevent further ocean plastic pollution.
The pack includes activities and short films exploring the history of plastic and the current state of ocean plastic pollution, as well as everyday behaviours that can have a positive impact on ocean plastic pollution. There will also be a special challenge launching in January 2019, where schools will be asked to share their pledges on reducing single-use plastics and be in with a chance of winning exclusive prizes.
PSHE Association Subject Specialist, Sally Martin says: “This exciting new lesson will support pupils to consider their everyday habits and the different kinds of responsibilities they have at home and in school to help protect the global environment from plastic pollution. Pupils will also learn how working together to reach a common goal can make a positive difference. The engaging learning activities will fire up primary pupils’ interest and help them reflect on what they, and others, can do to address this issue. Pupils will also be inspired by positive role models from sport to take plastic pollution seriously”
